Bridge Over Troubled Waters offers a comprehensive range of services to homeless and runaway youth ages 16 to 24, in a positive and safe environment.
 
Survival Services
Bridge can help you with basic survival services such as food, healthcare and a safe place to go to get off the streets. Programs include:
    • Day Program - Visit the second floor of the Bridge building for a free breakfast or lunch. You can shower, use the lockers, do your laundry, attend a workshop and find someone to talk to.
    • Medical and Dental Care - The Bridge Mobile Medical Van can be found at Park Street, Copley Square and Harvard Square every weekday evening. Volunteer medical staff offer basic first aid, referrals and health advice. You can also receive dental care at our 47 West Street office. To make an appointment, call 617-423-9575 or TTY 617-423-9575 ext. 355.
    • Counseling -Get help for substance abuse, family & peer relationships, survival needs and other crisis intervention services. Bridge counselors are here to support you and listen to you.
 
Housing
Bridge offers transitional living services for homeless youth. These homes emphasize responsibility, personal growth and communication.
    • Transitional Living Program - Bridge’s transitional living home provides housing for 18-24 year olds. Residents can learn life skills, get help with finding permanent housing, getting a job and/or filling out school applications.
    • Single Parent Home - Bridge Eliot provides young pregnant women and single mothers with a safe place to call home. Moms can learn parenting and budgeting skills and get help finding permanent housing. Bridge staff assists with finding employment, daycare and/or attending school.
    • Co-Op Apartments - Our Co-op Apartments offer our young people increased freedom along with the support and caring of Bridge staff. Co-op apartments can be an important step on the road to independence.
 
Education and Workforce
Bridge offers a variety of educational and job training services to help you take the next step.
    • GED - Getting your GED is one of the first steps to success. At Bridge, we can help you improve reading, writing and math skills in a relaxed, self-paced environment.
    • Workforce Development - This program will introduce you to the ‘soft skills’ of successful employment — communication, job readiness and time management. You must be at least 16 to participate in this program.
    • Career Counseling - Bridge offers one-on-one job counseling to maximize your chances of landing a job that’s right for you.
    • Computer Skills - Learn the Microsoft Office software suite as well as other important computer and professional skills so you can be an attractive job candidate.
