The Montachusett Interfaith Hospitality Network (MIHN) is a coalition of congregations, providing temporary shelter and transitional housing to families in crisis. Its congregations are local to Fitchburg, Leominster, Lunenburg, and surrounding areas of north-central Massachusetts.
MIHN provides families with children a temporary place to call home. Volunteers prepare meals, provide supervision, and lend a supportive hand to families.
Each congregation “hosts” guest families for one week at a time. Every Sunday the next congregation in the rotation takes over the role of host congregation.
Families spend their daytime hours at the Day Center where they are assisted by the Network Director. At the Day Center these families work on finding employment, permanent housing, day care, counseling, and other necessary supports. In the evenings, volunteers provide dinner, supervision, warmth, and compassion.
