Mary-Martha Learning Center

Location and Contact Info: 1045 Main Street   Hingham, MA 02043-3913 Map this address Phone: (781) 749-5441 The Mary-Martha Learning Center is a residential educational program for homeless families, primarily women with young children. We provide educational and social services that assist our students in achieving positive, long-term changes in their lives and in gaining financial independence.   Their goal is to turn the usually wasted time of homelessness into an opportunity for personal growth that will produce an improved future for both the mothers and their children.   Located in an 18-room home in a residential area of Hingham, the Center has bedroom space for 20 people, classrooms, library, offices, kitchens, a dining room, living room, family room/ children's day room and laundry room. The grounds provide a spacious and natural setting with picnic tables and a play area for the children. This pleasant, residential setting plays a strong role in helping our residents feel part of a caring community.   Our educational program promotes physical well being, assists in intellectual and career development, and enhances personal enrichment. The Center's faculty, along with instructors from collaborating agencies and professionals who volunteer their time, instruct students in a wide range of life skill and career development subjects. A Certificate of Achievement in Personal and Professional Development is awarded to those students who successfully complete the program. Students' accomplishments are celebrated at an Annual Graduation Ceremony.   Students work with program staff on a daily basis to implement the skills they have learned in the classroom setting. Case managers ensure that students are knowledgeable about community resources and are able to access these resources. Follow-up services are provided when families leave the Center.   DONATIONS: Drop off by appointment.  Ask about adopting a family.
