Students in Momodou Sarr's class at Amherst Regional High School have
spent this semester learning about the causes of hunger and solutions
for how to reduce it. Through a project designed by Chelsea Mullins, a
Masters Student in the Social Justice Education program at UMass, they
are making paintings, drawings and collages depicting their own unique
visions for ending hunger.
The students will donate their artwork to The Food Bank for use in a
Hunger Advocacy and Education Campaign. The Food Bank will create
postcards from the artwork to send to local, state and national
representatives urging them to take action against hunger.
The artwork will be revealed in a special
Art Walk opening at the Jones Library in Amherst on Thursday, May
6th from 5-8 pm. For more information, please contact Stacey Moyer at
