Pepperell Teen Earns Gold Award, Helps Pantries
June 19, 2010
PEPPERELL, MA - Stephanie Greene of Pepperell recently earned the
Girl Scouts' highest honor for girls 14-18: the gold award. To
receive the award, girl scouts much complete a special 7-step process,
which includes a Gold Award Project. For her project, named
"Giving Garden," Stephanie addressed homeless shelters, food pantries
and the lack of fresh vegetables. With the help of special education
students at her school, North Middlesex High School in Townsend, she
planted a garden and donated the vegetables to food pantries. She said
she enjoyed establishing relationships with the students. Ms. Greene
will be a sophomore at Fairfield University in Connecticut in the fall,
majoring in biology.
