Rockland Trust Finds Home for Franklin Food Pantry
May 20, 2009
FRANKLIN - On May 20th the Patriot Ledger reported that Rockland
Trust is donating the use of a 3,600-square-foot building to the
Franklin Food Pantry. The announcement followed the bank’s merger with
Benjamin Franklin Bank. The food pantry needed a new location after
Franklin town officials decided the food pantry could no longer use the
town-owned space that it had been using.
Rockland Trust isn’t donating the building outright. Instead,
Rockland Trust will charge the food pantry the market rate for two years
for a lease to use the entire building, and the bank will fully
reimburse the food pantry for the lease costs, Valente said. Those costs
will total about $85,000 over two years.
The food pantry, which serves nearly 2,200 clients from 15
communities, is expected to make the move next month.
