Boston Lawyer Connects with Homeless Through Book Club
July 5, 2009
The Boston Globe ran a heartwarming story about Peter Resnick, an
attorney in Boston, who had struck up a friendship with a homeless man
he had met on the way to work. They began to greet each other and speak
more often, and at a certain point the conversation turned to
literature, and the two found that they shared a common interest.
Eventually, a book club was formed, which now includes 5 homeless men.
It's a great story, not only because it reminds us that people who
find themselves without shelter are human beings with their own lives,
histories, and interests, but also that there are countless, unexpected
and unimagined ways with which we can reach out to others.
