Norwell Eagle Scout Chris Geany Completes Project for Food Pantry
January 21, 2010
NORWELL, MA - Chris Geany, a senior at Norwell High School, recently
designed and built doors and framing to help secure the shelves at the
Norwell
Food Pantry. Chris, 17, is a member of Norwell Boys Scout
troop 66, and he chose the task as his Eagle Scout project.
Chris first raised $500 to cover the cost of materials, and then
recruited other scouts to help with the construction work. He
estimates that he and his fellow scouts put in about 180 man-hours to
complete the project.
Once the doors were finished, Chris still had a few hundred dollars
left over, which he donated to the Food Pantry. He then organized
a neighborhood food drive to further help stock the pantry's shelves.
