Holbrook Santa seeks donation
By TERRY MASON
CORRESPONDENT

Holbrook Santa is still accepting donations to help local families who are in need this holiday season.

The organization provides gifts for family members. A limit of two years is set for a family to benefit from the program.

Selectman Paul Stigas has headed the organization since August, when Nancy Anne Noone stepped down after more than 20 years of running the program.

The organization learns of the families in need from letters, some written by the families themselves, that are co-signed by a clergyperson or a social.

"Monetary donations are preferred over gifts," Stigas said at the board's Dec. 11 meeting. "Sometimes it's hard to match the presents with the families in need."

There are three ways that donations may be made to Holbrook Santa. A check may be brought to the Holbrook Cooperative Bank, donors may bring cans to Dave's Redemption Center and specify that the proceeds be given to Holbrook Santa, or donations may be mailed to Holbrook Santa, P.O. Box 22, Holbrook, MA 02343.

"People in need can send their requests to Post Office Box 22," Stigas said.

The Marine Corps Toys for Tots program, which Stigas has overseen in Holbrook for several years, will not be affected.

Donations of toys for that program can be brought to Dave's Redemption Center, located on Plymouth St. in Roycrofts' Plaza.
